Week 9 Story: The 100
The 100
Floating outside planet earth in space, on a gigantic space arc, there is a civilization living in peace. They are originally from Earth where, a hundred years ago, they escaped from an apocalyptic outbreak of radiation. Within the arc, there is a facility housing one hundred kids. They are to be sent back to earth as guinea pigs to test whether or not Earth has become habitable since the radiation. The oxygen levels on the space arc have been declining for the past couple of years and the people of the arc need to find solutions as soon as possible.
The story of the hundred kids and how they came to be outsiders within the space arc society begins with a story of a woman named Abigail Griffin. She had given birth to a big lump of flesh. As a way to try to save her offspring, scientists divided the limp into one hundred pieces. Each of these pieces were placed into pods filled with amniotic fluid as a means to nurture these cells to full live and formation. This situation was merely an experiment. It was believed that this experiment would provide one child for the mother. However, the experiment was a success and each of the pieces within the pods began to develop and grow into children. Because they were born as flesh, divided, and scientifically created in the pods, they developed without belly buttons. When it was suitable enough for the hundred to be released from the pods and introduced into society, they looked slightly demonic and immediately became outlaws within the society. So naturally, the hundred are chosen to be sent away because they are considered disposable and unwanted.
Author's Notes: This story was based off of the Epified Mahabharata: Part B. In the story, Gandhari became pregnant and gave birth to a lump of flesh. The lump was divided into a hundred pieces and placed into vats where they developed into children. I found this story within the Mahabharata to be very interesting and had sparked connections in my mind to past shows I have watch. My story was inspired by tv shows such as The 100 and Kyle XY. I mixed elements within all three sources and wrote a whole new story. Elements of science fiction and fantasy are apart of my story.
Hello. Great story I thought it was really interesting how you were able to use the 100 and Kyle XY and relate it to the Epified Mahabharata. I never read the Epified Mahabharata, so reading your author notes was really entertaining since it was such a different story, but it was definitely very entertaining. Overall I really enjoyed your story and think you did a great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Kaelan! I didn't read the Epified Mahabharata and your author's note really helped me to understand where you got the story from! It was a really neat twist and I enjoyed it a lot! You're really good with descriptions and I felt like I could see it all play out!
