Bibliography: Jatakas: The Talkative Tortoise

This story is about a tortoise that once lived in a pond with the fishes. He was the most talkative creature there was talking 24/7 year round. The fish that lived in the pond were even fed up with the tortoise's constant chatter. The only friends the tortoise had were a pair of geese. When they heard about his troubles at the pond they went to him and asked the tortoise to come along with them to their beautiful home where he won't be bothered whether or not he speaks. He couldn't fly but the geese offered to carry him. They warned him that as long as he kept his mouth shut, he'd be okay. So the tortoise held onto a stick while his friends carried him toward their home. However, on the way, a couple of boys were amused seeing two geese carrying a tortoise on a stick. And with that, the tortoise easily forgot about about taking precautious and spoke out of anger. He then fell to his death with his shell cracked in two.
